Decoration is pivotal in setting the tone and ambience for an occasion. It infuses warmth and character into a space and adds visual appeal to the celebrations. The most prevalent decoration is the Balloon Decoration. A wide variety of balloons are available in the market.

1. Latex Balloons – These are the most common type of balloons. They are available in a wide range of colors.
2. Chrome Balloons – They are type of Latex Balloons but with a shine that makes them stand out. They are often used to add richness to a decoration.
3. Foil Balloons – Made of thin Aluminium Foil, these balloons come in various shapes. Most of the theme based balloons are made of foil. They are more durable and add character to a decoration.
4. Printed Balloons – Another type of Latex Balloons, usually bigger in size than the standard balloons are the Printed Balloons. They can be customized with messages, pictures etc. to suit the occasion.
5. LED Balloons - A very Interesting variety of balloons are the LED Balloons. They have a latch at the end which lightens when pulled. They create a very dramatic effect in evening parties.
6. Helium Balloons – Helium/Hydrogen Balloons are used to make the balloons float in the air or to release in the air on specific occasions. However care must be taken while using these balloons. Hydrogen is a combustible gas hence the balloon is likely to explode if it comes near a source of fire or if it is exposed to high temperatures. Helium though not combustible is very expensive. Nowadays, a mix of Helium and Hydrogen gas is used for filling balloons. It is advisable to take necessary precautions while handling these types of balloons.
7. Modeling Balloons – These balloons are also called String Balloons. They are long in shape and can be twisted to form various shapes. These are often used by balloon artists.
8. Confetti Balloons – These are larger sized balloons with sparkle or confetti inside them. They are often burst to add excitement to the celebration.

We can use any of the balloons or innovatively use a combination to create a unique Balloon decoration. While we may have to take the help of Decoration artists for more elaborate decorations and large scale parties, most of the house parties can be easily decorated by simple DIY kits available in the market. All that one needs are a few accessories like a balloon pump, arch tape, flower disc etc. and some imagination.

Apart from using the balloons, one could add more depth to a simple decoration by incorporating other elements too.

1. Flower Arrangements – Artificial or Real flowers, both, can be used to add an interesting dimension to the decoration. Keep the flowers as base and use balloons as fillers or vice versa, taking care to ensure one stays predominant while the other is used to accentuate the look.
2. Paper Decorations – Paper decorations are becoming increasingly popular in Decorations. They are easy to set up, last for a long time, add a beautiful twist to your theme and are viable for every occasion and type of decoration. One can select from Paper Fans, Paper Pom-poms, Paper Balls, Paper Lanterns or simple strips made out of Crepe paper.
3. Backdrops, Banners, Posters – Backdrops or Posters are used usually to accentuate a theme. They can be used as a centerpiece and bordered with balloons and other elements. They can also be used as backdrops to take pictures.
4. Cutouts – One could also use customized cutouts of Sun board as props or as announcement boards.
